The Grey Cup is over and I didn't get a rouge.
Montreal made a game with it in the 3rd quarter, but never got closer than a touchdown. The final score: B.C. 25, Montreal 14, but it wasn't as close as the score suggests, and thus it wasn't the classic it usually is. But that's okay, the Argos weren't in it so it didn't really matter, anyway! (He says, safe in the knowledge that he's at least a day south of the Canadian border.)

You may already know this, but during the post-game celebrations the Lions, um, broke the Cup. Snapped the original trophy right off its extended base, they did. So the CFL (or the staff at the museum) will have to repair it. Again. I guess stuff like this happens when the trophy's nearly a century old.
Sorry you didn't get to watch the game. This year, something like 62 million US households got the broadcast, but of course yours wasn't one of them.
Mind, it wasn't the greatest of games. Not much offence (though Smart's touchdown was impressive) and Calvillo looked beaten, psychologically, from the opening series. Because the QB was so off his game, the Als were never really in it.
I had intended to tape the game for you, but I've done something to my neck and the meds had me a bit punch yesterday. (What is it with me and Grey Cups?)

I did not hear about the Grey Cup breaking! I turned off the radio broadcast soon after the game was over.
There's something weird and wonderful about the Grey Cup and the Stanley Cup. Both of them have had their share of bumps and knocks over the years. It's kind of cool, actually.
On the other hand, the World Series trophy is underwhelming. I saw the 1992 trophy in the spring of 1993, after the Jays won it. It toured Toronto and had a short gig at Kodak. It looked pretty cheap considering what it represented. It looked like the little pennant poles were coming loose, and more than one of them was no longer staning upright. I've seen both the Grey Cup and the Stanley Cup, and both looked far more impressive.

It must have to do with the cable channel carrying them. We don't have a major cable carrier, just a smaller regional carrier. We were seriously unhappy with the treatment from Time-Warner, so we cancelled our cable back in 2003. When we got it again in 2004 we went with CMA. I was hoping we'd get Fox Sports World with CMA, but instead we got the Fox Soccer Network. As much as I like soccer, I don't follow any of the foreign leagues. I'd much rather have a channel that ran Aussie rules football, rugby, and — of course — the CFL.
I wonder what channel carried it, and whether or not Comcast has that channel. Comcast bought out Time-Warner in our area, and will be moving into Monroe early next year.

That's okay. And I hope you are feeling better. I thought I had pulled a muscle in my back yesterday, but I immediately took some ibuprofin and relaxed it, and the pain went away.
