Pimping Do-Ming's ride

In a comment about gas guzzlers (where Winter started the ball rolling by suggesting I get a blue gas guzzler), Do-Ming said the following:

How about getting a white one with Starfleet markings? My essential geek nature comes out :-)

Well, since Do-Ming brought it up, here is his car, after it was pimped! (*grin*):

That picture was taken in January, 1993 in Toronto.

I sincerely hope it's not Do-Ming's car...

See what happens when you encourage him????

That does look an awful lot like my current car, only mine doesn't have the cool markings :-(

It's a funny thing about encouragement -- those who seek it find it in the most unlikely places!

It needs to be a mini van (a nice shuttlecraft-looking shape). Failing that, it could be a gas-guzzling current generation SUV-monster...

Good ghod, is that a Hyundai Pony? Might as well have been a Yugo. Or an Omni...

Do-Ming, if you ever show signs of decorating a car like that we just might have to stage an intervention. Not that there's anything wrong with Trek...

Do-Ming, I thought the shape, particularly the back end, was fairly evocative of the shuttlecraft. Perhaps a mini van would have been more "accurate", but somehow it seems a little more... I don't know, something between cute and desperate, to paint an Omni.

Michael, it is definitely in the Dodge Omni family. It's either an Omni or a Horizon. You may recall that I used to own an '87 Plymouth Horizon. The main difference between them was the grille design. I didn't shoot the front of this vehicle well enough to tell whether it's a Dodge or a Plymouth.

Here are a couple of sites with pictures:

Plymouth Horizon

Winter, yes, that was someone's actual car. I don't know how big a Star Trek fan you are, so here's a site with pictures of the shuttlecraft that they were basing it on:

To be fair to Do-Ming, though, I should reiterate that it is not his car...
